“Why did you pick such a small car?” He ran the pads of his long fingers across the spotless dashboard, tapping out a quick rhythm.
“It was a gift.”
“Really?” The shrill tone made Ryosuke jump and turn and stare, hadn’t even occurred to him that Daiki hadn’t removed his ridiculous ring before they left. “But why did they give you such a small car? It’s not practical.”
“Because it looks cool.” That seemed to throw Daiki for a moment as he contemplated the reasoning, turning it over in his head like a puzzle, fitting in pieces to the best of his ability.
“Like Ryosuke then.”
“What do you mean by that?” He turned to look at Daiki for a moment, they weren’t in danger of moving, and he really couldn’t see too much past the shadows of the tunnel and the license plate of the car directly in front of them illuminated by his headlights. The only other thing to look at was Daiki’s face lit by the glow of the dash.
“Cool looking but not very useful.”
“Hey.” He punched the other man lightly, getting a none-too-gentle smack to the bicep in return. “You really are a terrible person.”
